Environmental study recommends new, direct route to XNA

An environmental assessment found that a proposed access road to the Northwest Arkansas National Airport shouldn’t significantly affect threatened or endangered species or environmentally sensitive areas if it’s built in a direct line from the Springdale Northern Bypass and Arkansas 112 interchange. ArDOT proposes a new four-lane, limited access road for this path.

This road and airport will serve the area’s growing population. AEDI’s projections from earlier this year predicted nearly 100,000 residents in Benton and Washington counties in 25 years.
