Pandemic pauses recent gains in Arkansas’ manufacturing sector employment

Manufacturing in Arkansas struggled to grow for more than a decade, then finally saw improvement in 2018, which continued until the pandemic hit.

Dr. Michael Pakko said manufacturing is one of the few sectors recovering more slowly in Arkansas than the rest of the nation. He sees some hope for the state’s manufacturing sector based on consumer demand and the need to rebuild supply chains.
